Wow! I’ve only been back home a week and Things are already starting to happen!!
After a magical weekend in Northern California full of a lot of loving pushes in the right direction, I’m announcing a bunch of new and exciting ways in which I’m working towards a bunch of creative and professional goals!
The first is that I’ve (finally) released my debut chapbook!! [insert lots of rowdy applause here]. I had a lot of help and loving support from my editor, partner, and friends to ensure this was the best version of this collection possible.
Celestial Bodies: A Year of Transgender Love Letters is a small but mighty collection of poems outlining the joy, love, loss, and healing that a life in transition may go through. These poems were my first steps into truly feeling like a writer and a poet, and I hold them so dearly to my heart as I look back at how much I’ve grown.
If you buy a copy, I’d love to see a photo of you with the book and the hashtag #celestialbodieschapbook so I can see how far this little book can go!
My second piece of big news is my first workshop series! [another round of thunderous applause]
Throughout my retreat and in hearing a common thread throughout my conversations with other writers and creatives, it can feel extremely lonely to be an artist. So often, writing can feel like such a solitary act, but I know from personal experience, that some of my best pieces and ideas have come from being in community with others. From listening deeply and seeing others for where they’re at, creating a loving and supportive place for writers to gather is where some of the best sink-your-teeth-in poems can be found.
My goal with this workshop is to help chart the journey from loneliness and isolation to a true feeling of belonging in community. I’m hopeful that this will lead to more workshops where that community can continue to grow and thrive.
The full details available for this workshop can be found here, and you can sign up for the workshop here by 7/15 to secure your spot!
In some further updates, the Office Hours segment of my Substack will now be for paying subscribers, but the first three issues will remain free and open for you to read and use. Office Hours will now be dedicated to provide workshop overviews and prompts provided to those that attended a few days after each session is completed.
I hope that this will give you the opportunity to take a peek at what we’re doing to see if attending a workshop may feel right for you!
There’s more in store, and I can’t wait to share what’s coming up next! Keep your eyes peeled and your notifications on— this is going to be a summer to remember!
Til next time, friends!
